The town of Jajce is located on the banks of two rivers, the Pliva and the Vrbas, near Pliva lakes. This provides fantastic opportunities for fishing. In the waters you can find trout, carp, tench. This is why the traditional meal of Jajce was originally made up of fish.
In addition, you can try some traditional Bosnian meals such as pies, bosanski lonac, baklava, hurmšice. “Bosanski lonac” is the name of the original Bosnian meal which has been created in Bosnia and was traditionally eaten by miners. It is made of beef and veal meat with potatoes, onions, carrots, green peppers, peas and others. In Jajce you can also try the famous national food : the “ćevapi”.
The typical drink from Bosnia is the bosnian coffee, boiled in džezva (coffee pot) and drunk from fildža (cup). With regard to alcoholic beverages, the most popular is therakija, an alcohol madefrom plum, quince or pear.
