The two largest rivers in the municipality of Jajce, the Pliva River and the Vrbas River, provide outstanding conditions for fishing.
Flowing through the municipality of Jajce, the Pliva lakes, and the Sipovo, is the 23km long Pliva River. Sipovo has one of the largest tributaries, called Lanj. The upper Pliva River (from the source to the center Sipovo) is excellent for fly-fishing. The drift is good and it is possible to fish from shore. As the Pliva River winds through Jajce, and especially on the Big and Small Pliva Lake, it provides opportunities for all types of fishing. On the Pliva River you will find trout, grayling, carp, tench, catfish and other kinds of white meat fish.
The Vrbas River runs along the main road (M-5) through Donji Vakuf, Jajce, and Banja Luka. The upper part of the river between Doganovaca and Jajce is rich in salmonide fish. There are also many cyprinid fish, including trout, graylings, nases, barbels, and chubs. In the lower part of the river, near the hydroelectric power station “Jajce II”, the number of cyprinid fish increases.
